Acts that are prohibited outside the designated areas

  • It is strictly prohibited to engage in commercial transactions and to camp, park, or cook outside the designated areas.
  • Objective: To conserve and manage the natural park and to ensure that it is used appropriately.
  • Relevant Laws: Articles 27 and 29 of the Natural Parks Act, and Articles 25 and 26 of the Enforcement Decree of the Natural Parks Act.
  • Disposition: Imposition of administrative fines.

Damaging the park’s natural resources

  • It is strictly prohibited to damage the configuration of a natural park or destroy its facilities; to get trees blighted; to enter a park area or a park protection area carrying a saw or an axe, etc. which may be used to damage natural resources; or to take a bath or wash in a valley, which is likely to damage the natural ecosystem.
  • Objective: To conserve and manage the natural park and to ensure that it is used appropriately.
  • Relevant Laws: Articles 27 and 29 of the Natural Parks Act, and Articles 25 and 26 of the Enforcement Decree of the Natural Parks Act.
  • Disposition: Imposition of administrative fines.

Disturbing the park’s ecosystem

  • It is strictly prohibited to lay explosives and snares or set traps, or dust toxic substances and agricultural chemicals, in order to catch wild animals; to carry hunting guns or crossbows, or to set nets without obtaining permission, in order to catch wild animals under Article 23 (1) 6; to unleash exotic animals in a natural park, as this may disturb the park ecosystem; or to plant exotic plants in the forests and fields of a natural park, as this may disturb the park ecosystem.
  • Objective: To conserve and manage the natural park and to ensure that it is used appropriately.
  • Relevant Laws: Articles 27 and 29 of the Natural Parks Act, and Articles 25 and 26 of the Enforcement Decree of the Natural Parks Act.
  • Disposition: Imposition of administrative fines.

Other prohibited acts

  • It is strictly prohibited to enter a park area or a park protection area carrying tools that may cause noise; and to commit acts that may cause feelings of repulsion or aversion in other persons, such as by recklessly dumping garbage, waste, or other materials etc. that emit or cause foul odors, etc.
  • Objective: To conserve and manage the natural park and to ensure that it is used appropriately.
  • Relevant Laws: Articles 27 and 29 of the Natural Parks Act, and Articles 25 and 26 of the Enforcement Decree of the Natural Parks Act.
  • Disposition: Imposition of administrative fines (1st violation: KRW 100,000, 2nd violation: KRW 200,000, and 3rd violation: KRW 300,000).

Entering the trail with a pet

  • It is strictly prohibited to enter the trail accompanied by dogs or cats, etc. which may damage or affect the park ecosystem.
  • Objective: To conserve and manage the natural park and to ensure that it is used appropriately.
  • Relevant Laws: Articles 27 and 29 of the Natural Parks Act, and Articles 25 and 26 of the Enforcement Decree of the Natural Parks Act.
  • Disposition: Imposition of administrative fines (1st violation: KRW 100,000, 2nd violation: KRW 200,000, and 3rd violation: KRW 300,000).
  • Exceptions: The park village area; any guide dogs accompanying persons with disabilities pursuant to Article 40 of the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities.

Smoking on the trail

  • It is strictly prohibited to smoke outside the designated areas.
  • Objective: To conserve and manage the natural park and to ensure that it is used appropriately.
  • Relevant Laws: Articles 27 and 29 of the Natural Parks Act, and Articles 25 and 26 of the Enforcement Decree of the Natural Parks Act.
  • Disposition: Imposition of administrative fines (1st violation: KRW 100,000, 2nd violation: KRW 200,000, and 3rd violation: KRW 300,000).
  • Exception: The park village area.

Prohibition of drinking

  • It is strictly prohibited to drink alcoholic beverages in the following restricted areas: All areas of Sanseong-ri inside Namhansanseong; the cultural heritage area and cultural heritage protection area (including 20 meters inside and outside the fortress); San 112 (do), San 84-4 (do), San 84-6 (do), San 85-2 (do), San 85-4 (Im), San 85-5 (Im) of Hagam-dong, Hanam-si; and 14-2 (do), Eunhaeng-dong, Jungwon-gu, Seongnam-si.
  • Objective: To conserve and manage the natural park and to ensure that it is used appropriately.
  • Relevant Laws: Articles 27 and 29 of the Natural Parks Act, and Article 26 of the Enforcement Decree of the Natural Parks Act.
  • Disposition: Imposition of administrative fines (1st violation: KRW 50,000, 2nd violation: KRW 100,000, and 3rd violation: KRW 100,000).
  • Exception: The park village area.
